Producing granulated fertilizer at a Biogas plant

Emsland, Germany

Bernadette and Stephan Raming have operated a biogas plant in central Emsland since 2011. Due to constant development, including increased electrical output and flexibility, they faced the problem of additional storage capacity in 2017 due to the new Fertilizer Regulation.

With approximately 1.8 million kilowatt hours of residual heat available, they decided to dry the accumulated fermentation residues using the waste heat from their own CHPs. After various discussions and on-site inspections, they chose the dryer system with back mixing from Dorset Green Machines.

After a quick set-up and short commissioning time thanks to the Dorset service team, the plant has been running virtually trouble-free and independently around the clock since July 2019. The Dorset dryer blends harmoniously into the overall picture of their biogas plant, completing their biogas concept.
